Ways To Give

     The success of the Victoria College Foundation has been and continues to be the generosity of our donors. The Foundation works to supplement the cost of tuition by garnering scholarship support, seeking grant funds for programs and projects, funding endowments for current and future students, and ensuring funding through planned giving. 

     Donations enhance student success.  From current needs to perpetual funding, all donor gifts have an impact.  Gifts can be designated for scholarships, academic programs, classroom enhancements, capital projects, etc.  Endowments can be created in memory or honor of a special individual.  Gifts designated for greatest need gives the Foundation the opportunity to provide funding where it is needed most, capitalize on unexpected opportunities, or meet unforeseen challenges.

Gifts made to the Victoria College Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization, are tax-deductible as allowed by law.

Donations

     Cash gifts offer an easy method of donating to the victoria College Foundation.  They can be made by check or credit card.  To make a gift by mail, please forward a check to:

Annual Giving Campaign

     Donations to the annual appeal provides important funding that augments the Foundation's support to Victoria College. Gifts to the campaign can be designated toward scholarships, endowment funding, VC programs, capital needs or Victoria College's greatest needs.

Scholarships

     Scholarships provide financial assistance to students as they work to achieve their academic goals.  Donations for scholarships can be made as general scholarship support or donors are welcome to establish a named scholarship with specific criteria such as GPA, financial need, major, or other preferences.

Endowments

     An endowment provides a continuing source of funding from the Victoria College Foundation to Victoria College.  Through an endowment, a legacy can be created that honors a family, individual or supporter of Victoria College.   

     Establishing an endowment includes:

  • Gift amount of $15,000.
    (Can be established as a lump sum or in three yearly installments)
  • Donor designates area of support, i.e. scholarships, specific program, capital improvements, etc.
  • Endowment funds are managed by an outside investment advisor in conjunction with the Victoria College Foundation's Board of Directors.
  • Recognition includes a plaque with donor's name/photo and endowment information that is prominently displayed on the Victoria College campus.
  • Donors receive an annual report of their endowment's performance and the recipient names.

Planned Giving/Legacy Gifts

     Establishing a legacy gift during lifetime or creating one through a final estate plan are effective means of providing future giving without impeding a current lifestyle or income stream.  It can also be an effective tax planning strategy for highly appreciated assets.  Seeking the professional advice of an estate planner can provide planning strategies that benefit the donor as well as Victoria College.  For more information, contact the VC Foundation office at (361) 582-2419 or by email:  SupportVC@VictoriaCollege.edu.

Charitable Gift through a Will or Trust Document

    Charitable gifts can also be made through a will or trust document that will provide future support to the Victoria College Foundation. Reasons to consider a charitable gift include:

  • The opportunity to leave a legacy
  • Can be updated as appropriate
  • Is a future gift; no cost today

     With the help of an advisor, the Victoria College Foundation can be included in a will or trust document. It is advisable to consult with an attorney.

Following is sample gift language to include charitable giving through a will or trust document:

     I leave (include dollar amount, percentage of estate or specific real estate) to the Victoria College Foundation, a 501(c)3 organization, located at 2200 E. Red River Street, Victoria, TX 77901, Federal Tax ID #74-1994810 to be used for (include specific purpose of funds or for general use).

Corporate/Matching Gifts

     Contributions to the Victoria College Foundation have the opportunity for enhancement through employers matching gift programs.  Current employees or retirees should check with their company's Human Resources department to determine if they participate in matching gifts to nonprofit organizations.

Faculty & Staff Grants

     Grants are utilized for ongoing training, initiatives and programs to ultimately give Victoria College students a top-notch learning experience. Grants are available to Faculty and Staff for a variety of professional development opportunities:

  • Stipends for curriculum-based projects
  • Improving instructional practices, student learning, and retention
  • Enhancing and initiating new instructional programs
  • Reviewing and revising courses to meet changing needs
  • Faculty research projects and professional conferences
